I visited the Church of the Living God in Lufkin on 613 Culverhouse for a singles conference. The pastor is Overseer Earl Whitaker. The conference started at 9 A.M. We sang Bless That Wonderful Name. Then there was a reading of John 14:1-4. We sang “I Love You Lord” and “We Exalt Thee”. A Skit was then performed and introductions were made. I thought it was a great seminar and everyone was really open and honest about their opinions on dating and relationships. I felt welcome at this church even though it was a prominently African-American church. Romans 12:1 and Isaiah 40:31 were a couple of the Bible verses used in the conference. I received a C.D. from the pastor from the previous Sunday’s sermon as well as some great literature about being single for Christ. I would like to visit this church again in the future for a church service.
